Luzula species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Smoky Wainscot and case-bearers of the genus Coleophora including C. antennariella (feeds exclusively on L. pilosa), C. biforis (feeds exclusively on Luzula), C. glaucicolella, C. leucapennis (feeds exclusively on Luzula), C. otidipennella (feeds exclusively on Luzula) and C. sylvaticella (feeds exclusively on L. sylvatica).
