Mirzo Ulugbek (also spelled Mirzo Ulug'bek or Mirza Ulugbeg) is one of 11 districts (tuman) of Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. It was named after the Persian[citation needed] astronomer, mathematician and sultan Ulugh Beg.

Overview

It is a north-eastern district of the city and was established in 1981 with the name of Kuybyshev,[2] referring to the Russian revolutionary leader Valerian Kuybyshev.

Mirzo Ulugbek borders with the districts of Yunusabad and Hamza. It borders also with Tashkent Province.
