[edit] Biography
Keough is the oldest child of Matt Keough, a former pitcher for the Oakland A's and current executive with the team and Jeana Keough, a former model, actress and Playboy Playmate who is now a realtor for RE/MAX in Coto de Caza, California. He has a younger sister Kara, who attended the University of California at Berkeley for one semester and also acts and models, and a younger brother, Colton. Keough drew criticism by telling his mom "you're lucky I didn't throw a bat at you" when she traveled 2,000 miles to watch him play in the Chicago area and walked onto the field following the game for fan appreciation day. His mother later apologized for her son, adding that Shane was unhappy with the "editing process."
[edit] Career
Keough was drafted in the 36th round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft by the Oakland A's as a draft-and-follow[1][2] pick. Keough attended Yavapai College[3] in Arizona to gain more playing time. He was signed by the A's in June, 2006. In the fall of 2006, he played outfield for the A's entry in the Arizona Fall League. Keough played for the Vancouver Canadians single-A short season team as an outfielder in 2007, for the single-A Kane County Cougars in 2008 and for the single-A Stockton Ports in 2009.
According to the Stockton Ports Web Site, Keough was released on July 4, 2010.
Besides Shane's father, his grandfather Marty and great-uncle Joe both played in the major leagues.
