Ship station (also: ship radio station) is – according to Article 1.77 of the International Telecommunication Union´s (ITU) RR[1] – defined as «A mobile station in the maritime mobile service located on board a vessel which is not permanently moored, other than a survival craft station

Each station shall be classified by the service in which it operates permanently or temporarily.
