From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Solitary Vireo" is a collective term for certain vireos. These were formerly believed to make up a single species Vireo solitarius, but are now treated as three allopatric species:
- Cassin's Vireo, Vireo cassinii - west of the Rocky Mountains from southwestern Canada to California
- Plumbeous Vireo, Vireo plumbeus - USA east of the Rocky Mountains from southwesternmost Montana to western Mexico
- Blue-headed Vireo, Vireo solitarius proper - Canada east of the Rocky Mountains to northeastern USA
