The T-600 is a line of fictional robots in the Terminator series. It can be considered a prototype to the more well-known T-800 terminator units in the series.

The T-600 is humanoid in appearance, functioning primarily as either a soldier or an assassin in various situations. In addition, some T-600 units are covered in a sheet of rubber skin, meant to resemble that of a human. In the game Terminator: Salvation these T600s are referred to as "Skin Jobs", a term borrowed from the movie Blade Runner in which Replicants were also nicknamed skin-job. In the same game, T600s in general are given the nickname "The Walker". "Skin Jobs" are typically used by Skynet for espionage and infiltration purposes rather than direct combat. However, the T-600's importance in these roles may have diminished due to the development of more advanced terminator models such as the aforementioned T-800 and the T-1000. Additionally, T600s have an apparent built in flaw, their cybernetic cortex being too exposed and subjective to piercing damage that, should it occur, causes the cyborg to glitch heavily, walking disoriented, fail to recognize human threat correctly, and randomly discharge their on-board weaponry throughout the surrounding area. Whether or not the machine ever recovers from this malfunction is unknown.

In The Terminator, the T-600 series is briefly alluded to by Kyle Reese. Contrasting them with the T-800, he mentions that T-600s were easy to spot and discover due to their unconvincing rubber skin disguise, but this was not the case for the newer T-800s, which were surrounded by artificial living tissue, giving them a much more human appearance.
Their first physical appearance is in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in a series of flashback scenes in the future.
The T-600 also appeared in Terminator Salvation. The T-600s in the film were designed by Stan Winston, Martin Laing, and ILM. McG has stated that "[we] wanted to achieve that bummer, rubbery skin, prosthetic look that cloaks an unrelenting machine with a singular focus of killing." They have been described as "the bigger, grimier, nastier version that preceded the T-800."[1] Physically intimidating, T-600s are eight-feet tall and have a built-in Minigun, as opposed to the T-800, which has no attached weaponry and relies on utilizing peripheral items for combat.[2] Images of the T-600 metal endoskeleton have since surfaced on the blog, io9.[3]
