The beach in Takeno is very popular in summer.

Takeno (竹野町, Takeno-chō) was a town located in Kinosaki District, Hyōgo, Japan.

On April 1, 2005 Takeno, along with the towns of Kinosaki and Hidaka, all from Kinosaki District, and the towns of Izushi and Tantō, both from Izushi District, was merged into the expanded city of Toyooka and no longer exists as an independent municipality.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 5,685 and a density of 55.31 persons per km². The total area was 102.79 km², along the Sea of Japan with a beach good for swimming.

As of 2008, the town had a total of 5 schools: 3 elementary schools (Takeno Elementary, Naka Takeno Elementary, Takeno Minami Elementary) and 2 junior high schools (Takeno Junior High, Morimoto Junior High).
