Is there any point to this page?

[edit]

We already have a great page on hip hop production, this one seems useless. Powelldinho 21:28, 23 November 2006 (UTC) I agree. It also posits some crass ideas that might be original research. Sludgehaichoi 16:16, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it has potential for development into a page that outlines the differences betwen, for example, an acid house 'beat' and a hip-hop 'beat'. both are loop-based, but they are very different things. it would probably make a very nice disambig page. --Kaini 03:47, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that as the Metalcore genre grows there will be a need for a separate page dealing only with Breakdowns, so merging that page with this one (beats) doesn't seem to be doing anybody any good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.35.37.198 (talk) 04:11, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A "beat" is much more general than a "break" which is a quite specific idea in music (not just hip-hop). These cannot be combined into one article, though it is is possible that the beats article itself is unnecessary.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 21:45, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing name

[edit]

This page's name, "Beats (music)" is easily confused with Beat (music). I arrived here expecting something about what a musical beat is, not the whole musical backing up a hip-hop piece. Perhaps a page called "Beats (hip-hop)" would be clearer? Pfly 07:35, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
