Untitled

[edit]

I think this should be a disambiguition page with links to:

Elisa Oyj - a Finnish telecommunications company
ELIZA - artificial intelligence program
ELISA - Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay
Elisa - the singer

Translation

[edit]

It would help if someone else could assist with the process of translating the page from Italian. Currently I am using Google's translator, then fixing grammar and editing it, and then adding it section by section, since the Italian version is by far the longest. POV

[edit]

"most beautiful and skillful voices", without citation? -- Jmabel | Talk 03:41, 22 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced that with something that provides a clear context, and added a category. -- Mikeblas 21:50, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at it, I think that was a translation from the Italian article (well actually having looked at it a good while back) - RHeodt 14:52, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Elisa Toffoli

[edit]

Just noting that I have moved the page to Elisa Toffoli. My rationale is that WP:NC is to use the most common name... which does not conflict with others. "Elisa" DOES conflict. So either way, there is a need for disambiguation. So it seems to me, the better way to disambiguate would be by her surname. i.e. No source would ever call her "Elisa (singer)". They would normally call her "Elisa". But they might refer to her as "Elisa Toffoli" given that that is her actual name. If you strongly feel opposed to this, feel free to revert - it's just an idea. Since I'm waiting to see what people think, I haven't yet changed old links and don't plan to. - EstoyAquí(tce) 15:54, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I disagree. I understand what you mean but she's ELISA, not Elisa Toffoli. Just like Madonna and Louise Veronica Ciccone. --Cumito (talk) 00:37, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I know what you mean too. That specific example of Madonna crossed my mind when making the move. But the point is, would you not agree that "Elisa Toffoli" looks better than "Elisa (singer)", since we don't have "Elisa" as an option? - EstoyAquí(tce) 13:07, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, but "Elisa (singer)" is simply a technical choice and the other seems to disagree with a particular decision of the artist. She wanted to be called simply Elisa to distinguish her art from her private life. It's a conceptual choise.

The main article must be "Elisa". I think this is a "sacrifice" that can be done as has been done for so many other artists here. --Cumito (talk) 16:33, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
