Needs revamping in light of new data

[edit]

Almost all of the grade 'records' sighted in the article need some re-checking based on the on-site calculations of this blog: [[1]]

Here are a few that beat some of the records in the article:

The Steepest Streets In San Francisco, For Real

  • Prentiss between Chapman and Powhattan (37% grade)
  • Nevada above Chapman (36% grade)
  • Baden above Mangels (34% grade)

Proposed Merger

[edit]
It has been suggested that Filbert Steps be merged into this article or section.

Gradient records section

[edit]

This section doesn't really belong and has turned the larger article into a WP:COATRACK for an article on steep streets. This content should be eliminated from this article, and if it's appropriate for Wikipedia at all, be put into an article of its own.

As for the "Filbert Street" vs "Filbert Steps" as the title of the page, I'll note that the Filbert Steps are the only notable landmark on the entire length of this street, the remainder being a perfectly ordinary east-west street on the north side of San Francisco, having otherwise no more notability than nearby Greenwich Street. Actually, I decided to simply be WP:BOLD and move the inappropriate content into its own article List of steepest roads and streets.
