Confusion between Giovannis

[edit]

Juan de Borja y Enríquez redirects here, but according to data elsewhere in this same wiki and elsewhere in the web, Juan de Borja y Enríquez was the 3rd Duke of Gandia, son of Giovanni Borgia (1447) 2nd Duke of Gandia and father of Francis Borgia 4th Duke of Gandia. He was born in 1495 and is not the same man as the object of this article. The Giovanni Borgia who this article is about was, depending of his true parentage, first cousin of Juan de Borja y Enríquez (if son of Cesare or Lucrezia) or his nephew (if he really was son of Pope Alexander VI himself). I have no idea of how to fix a redirection, but "Juan de Borja y Enríquez" should be one of those red links that takes you to a "create a page about..." kind of page, or maybe redirect to "Duke of Gandia" or something similar. But one thing is for sure, the Borgia genealogy is confusing enough to follow even without links mixing one member of the family with another :) 188.86.65.35 (talk) 04:44, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

parentage

[edit]

Why does the first sentence say he was probably Lucrezia's son when the rest of the article seems to point to him as being Alexander VI's son. No evidence is provided for the assertion that he was Lucrezia's son. john k (talk) 21:50, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is some speculation that Giovanni Borgia (also known as the Infans Romanus or Infant of Rome) was the son of Lucrezia Borgia and her father, Rodrigo Borgia (a.k.a Alexander VI) or Lucrezia and her brother Cesare. It has long been surmised that Lucrezia had incestuous relations with her father as well as both brothers, Cesare and Giovanni (a.k.a Juan). None of this is, of course, confirmed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azuluna (talkcontribs) 18:53, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
