More Info!...

[edit]

I wsih I knew more about kitazawa <---- i dont know if I'm spelling that right. But, is that Yuki's teacher?? Is he/she alive?!?!? I wsih this article had more info!!!

Something I noticed...

[edit]

There is the Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, whose name is similar to Ryuichi Sakuma, and the Jpop singer Noriko Sakai, whose name is similar to Noriko Ukai. Is this a coinsidence, or has Murakami said that she based their names off of those people?--Hanachan01 03:17, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suguru knows Eiri's past?

[edit]

In the article, 68.85.107.25 mentioned that "Suguru knows Eiri Yuki's past"... I didn't catch anything related to this in the anime or the OVAs, so I doubt it should be mentioned in the article. Any confirmation on this by others who have watched the series? I haven't read the manga, so I most probably am wrong. --dionyziz 11:59, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It was in the 5th manga volume. --Hanachan01 19:43, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to this article?

[edit]

I see someone has erased this article. I haven't clicked the pictures, as I don't know what they are, and I was wondering if someone could put the old article back up. Please.

Im removing the section on the "live version" i cant find any evidence that such a thing exists.

Missing Episode

[edit]

Episode 3 wasn't aired on Comcast OnDemand. Did it get yaoi-ish? Is that why?

Genre?

[edit]

I am fairly sure Gravitation should not be defined as shounen-ai (or shonen-ai) as this is a fairly obselete term, and often considered a different genre. Gravitation is normally referred to as BL (Boys Love) or Yaoi. Considering shounen-ai is a debatable term, whereas it is definite that Gravitation is BL wouldnt that be a more appropriate genre?

Doesn't shonen-ai literally mean boy love anyway...? urutapu 23:36, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it does, but I'm fairly sure its no longer used (or only refer to older manga such as Song of Wind and Trees), in Japan at least. There seem to be differing opinions on this, but BL is universally accepted.

Maki Murakami has made yaoi/shounen-ai implications much more than obvious: not only has she inserted several shounen-ai scenes in the manga and anime, she has written several dojinshi with very explicit yaoi. Seeing this categorized as a shoujo was a little surprising. --Meridianchild 08:23, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A shounen is a young boy 15 years or younger. Ai refers to sexual love. So, shounen-ai is sexual love for little boys. It refers to real life pedophilia and that's why it's no longer used as a genre and BL is accepted.

The doujinshi have nothing to do with the canon series, so just because Maki Murakami made doujinshi with her own characters, does not make Gravitation yaoi or BL. It has homosexual themes though, but it was published in a shoujo magazine and Maki Murakami herself calls it shoujo. In America, Tokyopop mistakenly labeled it BL or whatever, but they corrected themselves later. Also, "yaoi" is an offensive word, so calling something like Gravitation yaoi is offensive to the mangaka. Yaoi is also explicit male x male sex, which is not featured at all in Gravitation. They imply that they've had sex, but that doesn't meant that the series revolves around their relationship or their sex. --Someone who didn't leave a name

While it is true that the term shounen-ai has fallen out of favor in Japan in recent years, it is still widely considered the appropriate term to describe the genre in the US. Since this issue is noted on the wikipedia page for the term "shounen ai", it's probably best to leave that as identifying genre. --Someone who also isn't leaving a name 5:10, 26 October 2007 (EST)

Trivia?

[edit]

The triad on Chronicals Haruhara in the trivia section appears to be entirely self advertising. It was added by user 'HaruharaChroni'. A google search for "Haruhara Chronicles" brings you ONLY to this page on the Wikipedia with no other results. In searching up additional information on this person, it appears to be nothing but a transsexual fangirl, their extreamly obscure original fiction, and self-admitance that their original work barely contains a single original idea.

Updates

[edit]

Reorganized the characters section, made it a little more readable and did some general cleanup. Wilybadger 01:08, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Remix/Megamix, call for correction

[edit]

I noticed that little information was included about the Remixes. Though I do fully agree that the Megamixes are extremely graphic, I do believe that not fully describing the Remixes is a harsh misrepresentation of the intentions of the artist in creating these productions. True the Megamixes are graphic, but the Remixes are relatively tame (by comparison), and often involve little more the implied and non-visible sexual conduct. Though I personally don't know much about them, I've only read over a friends shoulder, I don't think that they should be lumped together with the Megamixes in the description. I know it is a little weak to aks someone else to fix it, but I don't have the internet capabilities to do much research about things of this nature. So simply I'm asking that someone who can safely and competently (for I can do neither) fix this section —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 123go567 (talkcontribs) 06:53, 8 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Characters

[edit]

What happened to the characters section?

Also, there are articles for the main characters. There are no links to them in this article. 74.116.137.2 01:58, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gravitation EX.

[edit]

Looks like this page hasn't been edited or updated in years. Is there still only 1 volume of EX in Japan after all this time?

BL manga, not yaoi.

[edit]

Yaoi is X-rated & is based around sexy with relatively no plot or story, aka porn. Rimigra (Remix Gravitation) is yaoi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.118.100 (talk) 00:55, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shonen-ai, not yaoi

[edit]

This manga is completely shonen-ai, and not even abit of yaoi. While her dojinshis is yaoi, i don't find it appropriate to describe her dojinshis with words like 'seme', 'threesome' etc - especially since the dojinshis are non-canon and is not related to the actual manga. While both genres are describing a romantic relationship between guys, yaoi is more on the extreme side, depicting sex scenes etc. As such i hope inappropriate words regarding her dojinshis are removed as not to taint this amazing shonen-ai work with an all porn work. Triva

[edit]

I just finish watching this. You know where they get to the end of the credits and they give the years for when this was done in. The first is for Japanese production and the second is the English Production.

Well, this was release on November 2, 2010. But on the dvd it has 2011. Kind odd for that to have a typo. — Preceding

Neutral

[edit]

"The manga is a quirky blend of over-the-top humor (Reiji's giant panda robot destroying parts of New York, Shuichi's explosive nosebleeds and ridiculous declarations of love, K's machine gun wake-up calls, Touma's half-teasing come-ons, etc.) and gay love. The storyline is just serious enough to be compelling, but also contains elements of parody. The characters are often thrown into insane situations and in some scenes the art style is dramatically overdone for comedic effect, one of many of Murakami's well known traits and characteristics in her manga styles. This manga can get a little over the top at times, but it draws you back in with it's humor and voice." This paragraph does not adhere to Wikipedia's neutral policy.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view) As such, I think it should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Altamara (talkcontribs) 17:55, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OSTs (music)

[edit]

How about adding something about the music; Iceman, Mad Soldiers, etc. The anime had a LOT of music in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.134.7 (talk) 04:08, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
