A fact from Ha Giang province appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know? column on 6 September 2010 _{(check views)}. The text of the entry was as follows: "Did you know

... that the 11 provinces of Bắc Giang, Bắc Kạn, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Yen Bai are part of the 59 administrative provinces and 5 municipalities in Vietnam?"

I've moved this back to the unaccented form, for two reasons. Firstly, there's the "most common name rule" - Vietnamese provinces are generally known in English without their accents. Secondly, there's the fact that we can't actually do it properly - some provinces can be put at their proper names, but others, due to software limitations, can't. (I think). I personally think it's better to have no accents than to have half the provinces named with accents and half the provinces without. Just my opinion. -- Vardion 23:56, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
