I did not make a change (except to add Cornwall's birth year) but I don't think this is a balanced article. It is basically an attack on Cornwall. I agree that all of the criticisms need to remain, but they should be balanced by supportive references. I could cite a few, but my preference would be that someone who has greater familiarity with Cornwell and has done deeper research would do that. opinions and unsourced statements

Most if not all of paragraphs 2 and 3 of the section "Hitler's Pope" are opinions, unsourced statements, and arguments, which have very little or nothing to do with a biography of Cornwell. (It looks very like an editor tried to rebut Cornwell's arguments but didn't have the materials to back up the rebuttal.)

The passage from "However, between 1933...." to ...Mit brennender Sorge" has been removed, since it's not part of a summary of the book but consists only of unsourced statements used to rebut Cornwell's thesis.

The passage, "Early reviews of...." to "...thousands of Jews." likewise consists only of unsourced statements, and should be removed. Evidence in support of Cornwell, 2023

I have moved the 2020 mention from the NYT that the Vatican was unsealing Pope Pius XXII's letters into a new subhead area and combined it with today's news that the examination of the archived correspondence contains evidence that supports a portion of Cornwell's thesis. I placed it in this article to balance what seemed like an inordinate amount of criticism of Cornwell's book, without eliminating the criticism. My intention was to show that updated research vindicates the truth of Cornwell's allegation that the pope new full well about the extermination of Jews in Nazi death camps as early as 1942 and refused to act upon his knowledge.
