Just because there are consumer complaint websites, none are cited, and the wording of the last paragrah is atrocious and not neutral. Neutrality and Citability are the two #1 rules of writing for Wikipedia. The paragraph has been removed as it did not contribute anything to the article. If you want to write about their business ethics, do it more professionally and neutrally. The Dutch Pearle Opticiens article links to this one. The problem is that it are two separate companies. Pearle Visions/Opticians in Europe is owned by HAL Investements. Ownership in the 1970s[edit]

“In the 1970's the chain was owned by GD Searle Pharmaceutical, not Stanley Pearle who was a founding father and board member.” This needs clarification. What chain is this referring to? The previous sentence says that Pearle purchased the 17-store optical chain in 1971, and the next says he sold it in 1985, therefore one would assume he owned it throughout 1970s. Did he immediately turn around and sell it, then buy it back at a later date? What is “GD Searle Pharmaceutical” and what is their relationship to Stanley Pearle? Also, no source is cited attesting Searle's ownership of Pearle, and no mention of this exists on Searle's Wikipedia page or elsewhere I can find in a Google search.

Further, the next paragraph says that in the 1980's Dr. Pearle sold the company to a British firm.
