Stalin

The sentence "Shalamov didn't make a single mention of Stalin in the book except for a brief mentioning of a large portrait of the man in an administrator's office" seems a little bit to definitive to me: Stalin's death is mentioned several times, in relation with the author's departure from the Kolyma. Furthermore, Stalin's case could be compared with that of other sovietic officials who are indeed cited more often: Dalstroy's directors (Berzin, Pavlov), or Beria, for example.
