Roberts or general?

[edit]

It probably would be better to have a parliamentary procedure navbox. Most of the motions in this navbox fall under DEM, TSC, and other authorities. If you were to make that switch, you would probably want to include links to DEM and TSC in the navbox. SpiritWorldWiki (talk) 04:23, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be open to that; unfortunately, the only rules of order with which I'm familiar is Robert's (and, to a much lesser extent, Beauchesne's). Do you want to do up a mockup of a parliamentary procedure or motions navbox? Sarcasticidealist (talk) 04:39, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, sure. I'm not proposing any particularly dramatic changes, since you've pretty much got it already. However, it would be good to have links to TSC, DEM, Riddick's Rules, etc. Demeter's Manual is fun to read, by the way. If you decide to buy it, look for the 1969 edition as the others may have different pagination, etc. SpiritWorldWiki (talk) 04:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, what about the "miscellaneous" motions such as censure (motion), declare the chair vacant, etc. Another possibility is to have a motions navbox, although it would not be as comprehensive as a parliamentary procedure navbox could be. SpiritWorldWiki (talk) 04:25, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changes and suggestions

[edit]

I think this is great. I do have a sort of "global" comment, which I am going to make on the Wikiproject page, where this is also being discussed. I have added Deliberative assembly under other concepts. However, I wonder whether some of the "concepts" should actually be in a section called "Basic concepts", such as Deliberative assembly, Motion (parliamentary procedure), perhaps Majority (although I have not looked at that article to see what is says), and perhaps a few others, like Quorum and Session. (But not Dilatory motions and tactics or Committee of the Whole and probably not Committee, though I am on the fence on that one.) If this is done, the "Basic concepts" should either be on the top of the box, above Main motion, or The box could be divided in two, one for Motions and the other for "Concepts and authorities" or something like that. Question

[edit]

Is there a reason why Request to be excused from a duty is listed with "Incidental motions" rather than "Incidental motions (requests and inquiries)"? Neutron (talk) 17:11, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
