The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch, known as Eiyū Densetsu III Shiroki Majo (英雄伝説III 白き魔女, Eiyū Densetsu Surī Shiroki Majo, lit. "The Legend of Heroes III: White Witch") in Japan is a role-playing video game originally developed by Nihon Falcom Corporation. It is the third game in the The Legend of Heroes series, and the first in the "Gagharv Trilogy". This game is a remake of the original game released for the NEC PC-9801 in 1994. It was also released for Sega Saturn, PlayStation, and Microsoft Windows.

There is some continuity confusion on the series because the fourth game in the series, The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion, was released before this game in the US. This resulted in the inconsistent re-titling of The Legend of Heroes III to The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch in the US.

Story

A long time ago, a girl traveled around Tirasweel. Her silver hair shone even in the moonlight, and her eyes were clear as a fountain.

She could cast a glance into the future. When good things happened, people admired her. When bad things happened, people accused her. Some people called her the Moonlight Witch.

A long time ago, a Witch traveled around Tirasweel. She disappeared, leaving many questions behind...

Main Characters

Jurio (Age 14): A ordinary, gentle boy. He embarks on a pilgrimage with his childhood friend Chris.

Chris (Age 15): A tomboyish and carefree girl, with a feminine side. She's actively involved with Jurio.

Shirla (Age 22): A beautiful thief. Theft always ends in failure because of her blunder partner, Goose.

Goose (Age 23): Shirla's partner. Handsome but naturally blob. His appearance is similar to that of Avin and Mile from The Legend of Heroes: A Tear of Vermillion because of the red bandana (Avin) and blonde hair (Mile).

Filly (Age 14): Has skill in pharmacy, inherited from her mother. Her best friend is Bang-Bang, a baby bear. She develops a crush on Jurio during the time she helped them in finding a cure.

Huck (Age 32): Chris's uncle naturally everybody calls him eccentric. Usually found at places where the Moonlight Witch has been (almost all of Tirasweel).

Gueld (The Moonlight Witch): Not a main character per se, but is named in several places of the game. She is usually described as a "girl in her eighteens with beautiful silver hair and a sad expression".

Alf (Age 41): A traveler who is helped by Jurio and Chris. He is actually King Alfred of Ambisch.

Lodi (Age 20): From Negar Island. Wanted revenge on Galga since it killed his parents. Traveled with Jurio and Chris for a period of time and is also Jurio's swords master.

Mr. Morrison (Age Unknown): Alf's adviser. He travels with the kids to Oldos under Alf's orders. At first, he didn't like Goose and Shirla because they tried to steal from the king, but after some time, he began to think of them as good-hearted people.

Roule (Age 83): An old man from Tyuyell. His grandson thinks he gambles just for greed and always loses, but Jurio and Chris learned that he uses the huge amount of money he wins from Dice to buy seeds for the poor in Dartu. Jurio and Chris learned that Roule appears to be Captain Thomas

Badatt (Age Unknown): A traveler that specializes in Martial Arts. Helped in rescuing Chris when she was imprisoned in Ghidonnel. He also accompanies uncle Huck and Joanna to learn more about the Wave of Rual.

Stella (Age Unknown): Also known as the "Desert Panther" and "Naje". She is really pretty and uses her beauty to the team's advantages. She became a Desert Panther to fight on behalf of the people who are oppressed by the wealthy.

Joanna (Age Unknown): Durzel's granddaughter. She helps the others in freeing her grandfather in Dorufes.

Durzel (Age 60): The king of Penthe's former swordsman. He was ordered to capture or kill the Moonlight Witch but ended up helping her during her pilgrimage. He gave up and promised to never use a sword again because he failed in saving Gueld from being killed by Revas. Was also imprisoned in the tower of Dorufes because he found out some information he shouldn't have known. Durzel is also very popular due to his good nature and skill. Badatt and Lodi also think highly of him, the latter being trained at the end of the game.

Lap (Age Unknown): An odd old man living on the outskirts of Ragpick Village. He tends to exaggerate a lot when telling stories to Jurio and Chris. However much to their disbelief Jurio and Chris learn that a long time ago he was once known as a legendary sorceror.

Secondary Characters

Magisa: A kand master who is trained by Mr. Morrison. She helped in capturing Galga. She was also said to be trained by Gueld briefly.

Antagonists

Queen Isabelle: She is known as princess Isabelle in The Legend of Heroes: Song of the Ocean. She drifted ashore in Pholtia due to trying to kill Gueld in Another World. She called Revas from Another World to serve for her and to help her in their plot.

Revas: The young astrologer from Another World who serves Princess Isabelle in The Legend of Heroes: Song of the Ocean. He is summoned by Isabelle to Castle Roudo, using his powers to call forth the destructive Wave of Raual. He appears to look exactly like his father Revas XIII.

Wizard Kajim: A mad wizard mercenary who tried to control Galga fifteen years ago. He is first defeated by Jurio and company in Shifool and later defeated by Lodi in Castle Roudo.
