Vincent Malo (Cambrai 1585/1605, (ca. 1595) - Rome, 1649) was a painter of Flemish descent who after training in Antwerp was mainly active in Italy, where he was known as Vincenzo Malo.

Biography

Malo was a pupil of David Teniers the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens from whom he learned the Flemish baroque style. Between 1623 and 1634 he worked in Antwerp. During this period he was enlisted as master in the Antwerp Guild of St. Luke. He then moved to Genoa where he lived for many years. He executed a large number of religious works for churches of which many have been lost, and peasant scenes for the palaces of the rich. Antonio Maria Vassallo was one of his pupils.

He later moved to Florence and finally to Rome where he died at the age of 45.
