Walter Smith (2 July 1898 – 14 June 1990) was an Australian bushman. He was born at the Arltunga gold-field. [1]

A cameleer, gold prospector, gem fossicker, dogger (dingo trapper), miner, meteorite and fossil collector, Smith knew over thirty native languages[2]
