Various Soap Opera Publicity Shots[edit]

  • Comment A lot of those images are used on articles about the real life actor/actress (not their character roles) and so those would be replaceable fair use. Copyrighted images used to illustrate the actual role the actors play can be used. For example, Image:Julmorris14.jpg can be used on Greta Von Amburg because it's illustrating the fictional character. But it can't be used on the real-life actress page at Julianne Morris because it can be replaced by a free image. So delete all the unfree publicity photos used to illustrate the real life actor/actress and keep the ones used to illustrate the fictional characters. And Image:Brandonbeemer.jpg can be deleted because it's obviously not public domain. Spellcast 13:50, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    Delete: For illustrating characters, screenshots should be used. Using a small part (screenshot) of a copyrighted work (tv-series) to comment on this copyrighted work is fair use. Copying content (these images) that was produced to enhance the copyright holder's websites into our website is unfair competition. Content from sites like abc.go.com, fox.com, etc. are not promotional. Their terms of use explicitly says that we're not welcome to reuse their images. Similar discussions for startrek "promotional" material was held at this ifd, this other ifd and its deletion review. --Abu badali (talk) 14:33, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Highly unlikely the flickr user owns the photo because it seems to be taken from a more "accredited" photographer at http://www.flickr.com/photos/richardliriano/305753297/. Not to the mention the fact that the uploader is a blocked sockpuppet with a history of uploading copyvio images and claiming them to be free. — Spellcast 12:54, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • The rationale for this image in Lindsey Lohan: "is significant beacuse it illustrates Lohan's character in the film." The article makes no mention of Lohan's character in this film, nor her specific appearance in such.
