Yuri Petrovich Figatner

Yuri Petrovich Figatner (Russian: Юрий Петрович Фигатнер; 1889 – 20 September 1937) was a Soviet party functionary who investigated the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1929.

Figatner was born in Odessa to a family of artisans. He was a member of the Bolshevik faction of the RSDLP from 1903.

Figatner was People's Commissar for Internal Affairs of the Terek Republic in 1918, and in 1919 he went to Transcaucasia. From March 1921 to February 1922 he was secretary of the Caucasian Bureau of the Central Committee of the Russian Communist Party (b). Later he worked in a responsible position in the economy. From the 14th Party Congress he was a member of the Central Control Commission of the All-Union Communist Party (b).[1]

In 1937 he was arrested in the course of the Great purge for "terrorist activities" and shot on September 20th.[2]
