Magandang Buhay (lit. 'beautiful life') is a Philippine television talk show broadcast by ABS-CBN, Kapamilya Channel and ALLTV. Originally hosted by Karla Estrada, Melai Cantiveros and Jolina Magdangal, it premiered on April 18, 2016 on the network's morning line-up replacing Kris TV. Cantiveros, Magdangal and Regine Velasquez currently serve as the hosts.
History[edit]
On March 10, 2020, the show's live audience admission was suspended following the declaration of state of public health emergency in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[1]
On March 26, 2020, Magandang Buhay was broadcast via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic's enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.[2]
On May 5, 2020, the show was suspended after ABS-CBN permanently ceased the free-to-air broadcast operations as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission (under the leadership of Gamaliel Cordoba) and Solicitor General Jose Calida.[3]
On June 15, 2020, Magandang Buhay resumed its live studio broadcast, following the launch of Kapamilya Channel on June 13.[4]
In 2022, Karla Estrada was on temporary leave due to her commitment with Tingog Party List in the Philippine House of Representatives elections. During Estrada's absence, Regine Velasquez and Judy Ann Santos each served as guest co-hosts[5][6] Estrada returned in a taped episode aired on July 22, marking her final appearance on the program after six years.[7][8] On August 8, Velasquez officially became a regular host in the talk show.[9]
2023–2024: TV5 simulcast[edit]
In a trade event of TV5 Network, Inc. on November 23, 2022, it was announced that Magandang Buhay would be part of TV5's programming line-up beginning February 6.[10] The simulcast began on February 6, 2023 at 09:00 (PST).[11]
On June 19, 2023, the show's simulcast on TV5 was moved to an early timeslot at 07:00 (PST) with delayed telecast as a replay of episode from previous day.
On March 1, 2024, TV5 ended its delayed telecast of Magandang Buhay due to an implement of a new programming schedule on March 4, with the expansion of TV5 Kids block and airing a telenovela.
2024–present: ALLTV simulcast[edit]
On May 13, 2024, the show began its simulcast on ALLTV through its Jeepney TV block, marking its return to channels 2 (analog) and 16 (digital) in Metro Manila after 4 years, which are previously held by ABS-CBN.
