The 2024 Canadian Grand Prix (officially known as the Formula 1 AWS Grand Prix du Canada 2024) is a Formula One motor race, which is scheduled to be held on 9 June 2024 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Background[edit]
The event will be held across the weekend of 7–9 June.[1] It is scheduled to be the ninth round of the 2024 Formula One World Championship.
Championship standings before the race[edit]
Max Verstappen is the Drivers' Championship leader after the eighth round, the Monaco Grand Prix, with 168 points, 31 ahead of Charles Leclerc in second, with Lando Norris in third, 25 points behind Leclerc. In the Constructors' Championship, Red Bull Racing lead Ferrari by 24 points and McLaren by 68.[2]

The drivers and teams are due to be the same as the season entry list with no additional stand-in drivers for the race.
Tyre choices[edit]
Tyre supplier Pirelli will bring the C3, C4 and C5 tyre compounds (designated hard, medium, and soft, respectively) for teams to use at the event.[3]
Free practice[edit]
Three free practice sessions will be held before the race. The first free practice session will be held on 7 June 2024 at 13:30 local time (UTC-4). The second free practice session will be held on the same day at 17:00 local time (UTC-4). The third free practice session will be held on 8 June 2024 at 12:30 local time (UTC-4).[1]
