Possible mistakes[edit]

I am really no expert, but I think the formula for midpoint is simply wrong. It states that the midpoint between and is . But then, the middle point between and could be, on one hand, . Thanks, you're right. The source gives this formula, but it's clearly a mistake since it just replicates the source's (presumably correct) formula of barycentric coordinates. Abbreviated name[edit]

The article claimed "often" the full name is abbreviated to "trilinears". It is more like a nickname than a correct formal name. I can see it's being used in an extensive discussion in a textbook or research article, but I think it is inappropriate for an encyclopedia article. Hence, I changed most "trilinears" to the full name, especially at the introduction of each new usage. I changed "often" to "sometimes"; in my experience a claim of "often" is "often" made without sufficient knowledge of the field; it requires good documentation. This article is about a particular thing, not about any coordinate system vaguely associated with triangles. A triangular grid is not a coordinate system, and certainly not a trilinear coordinate system in the sense of this article. --JBL (talk) 17:43, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
