International Bacon Sandwich Day is on the 26th of May and now is celebrated across the world. International Bacon Sandwich Day was created at Benjamin Franklin School in Barcelona by the Computer Science teacher Will Douglas on the 26th of May in 2021 to bring the community together through food and the smell of bacon in the morning.
In a reference to a line in Apocalys now, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" the email sent out was "Hey, it's international bacon sandwich day, I love the smell of bacon in the morning"
Folowed by a quote form Homer Simpson, "Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal."
The tradition has continued every year since.
