The Ambassador is an Israeli reality show by Keshet Media Group that was broadcast in 2005–2006 on Channel 2. The purpose of the program was to find an Israeli advocacy representative. Initially the producers planned to place the winner directly into Israel's foreign ministry, but that was abandoned due to a conflict of interest[1]. The final destination was to serve at the headquarters of the American organization Israel At Heart in New York. 14 candidates participated in each season. Each went through a large number of screenings, competitions, tasks and challenges[2]. In each episode, a contestant was eliminated and finally the winning advocacy representative was determined and sent to the United States. The show was highly popular among Israeli television viewers, with 25% of the population watching the first season finale[3].
The show was produced by Cooperman Productions , which produced other Israeli reality shows including Take me Sharon , Substitute mother , Stepfamily and Big Brother.
The first season[edit]
The first season aired in 2005. The 14 contestants were judged by three judges: former IDF spokesman Nachman Shai, former head of the Shin Bet Yaakov Peri and Hevrat HaHadashot political reporter Rina Mazliah .

During the season, the contestants were sent to Australia, Asia, Europe, America and Africa to perform various tasks.
Another change was the replacement of Yaakov Peri with former IDF Personnel Division head Gil Regev . Despite this, Peri was a guest in a special episode for the examination of the contestants. Also, a number of special programs were broadcast in which the contestants were tested on general knowledge questions under the guidance of Erez Tal.
