Just wanted to post the police report [1] that shows that Kevin Samuels was born in 1965 and was 57 at the time of death.
I noticed that news reports are all over the place on his age from 53 to 56, but they are all wrong and it shows they were not fact checked before publishing by these news outlets. We should choose the sources here more carefully.Ramos1990 (talk) 04:13, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

To Praxidicae, hello, I noticed we keep going back and forth in changing the year Mr. Kevin Samuels was born. I believe you have the wrong date, and he was in fact born in 1969, because the reference you have cited which is his Memorial Service, mentions it twice. (1:42:35 & 1:43:21)

The Medical Examiner's report is a primary source. It says it on WP:BLPPRIMARY. Should use secondary sources instead. Since the sources in general disagree as to his birth day and age, it is best to leave out that date from the page - it has caused to much edit warring.Ramos1990 (talk) 16:36, 10 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I didn't see this when I first made the edit.
The year of birth is vitally important info for any biography, so its omission will cause problems down the line. Anyone who, like me, comes along and wonders how old he was when he died will look to sources to answer this. That's going to be most readers, and those readers are just going to look at sources anyway, right? With that in mind, I have adjusted it to be an approximation, based on multiple sources for his age at his death.
When reliable sources disagree on someone's age, which happens all the time, all we can do is cite them and explain that it's ambiguous. To leave this out completely would cause confusion. If we want to expand this range with more reliable independent sources, that would be fine, but I agree that primary sources such as police reports or medical records are not acceptable. Per WP:BDP, in a couple of years we could perhaps reconsider and provide this info with attribution. Grayfell (talk) 01:41, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Will correct the date to 1969 as he was 53 years old. Per his own admission on [3] in March 6, 2021. Original full length podcast [4] at 2:50:00 on March 3, 2022. he says "I'm 51 years old and I can pick whatever I want." A YouTube video of his memorial service is not a reliable source even as a primary source. I have adjusted to expand the range per the additional primary source, but we should not ignore these other sources without a good reason. I agree with your edit that kept all of the sources with context. News organizations did not do their job correctly at all but keeping his admitting of being 51 as of March 6, 2021 (which would make him 53 at the time of death) is the right thing to do. Kevin Samuels would know his own age better than anyone else. The Medical Examiner's report above verifies that he was 53 at the time of death too (https://www.fultoncountyga.gov/news/2022/05/06/medical-examiners-press-report-kevin-samuels) which is currently referenced. So the right date should be 2022-53=1969. The memorial video from his family and friends, which included his mother talking in there also has 1969 as date of birth see last segment at 1:42:30 of memorial for summary of his life. It is in Dennis Spurling's channel who is Kevin Samuels family lawyer and very close friend, whom Kevin helped find a wife for him. I actually e-mailed Dennis since he attended Samuel's birthday party and he confirmed Kevin was 53 at the time of death.Ramos1990 (talk) 19:21, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some news sources stating correctly that Samuels was 53 years old at the time of death. Fox 26 Houston news, NBC News, E news online, Fox 2 New York. These later news reports got the age correct as opposed to the early ones that generally got it wrong and did not do their research.Ramos1990 (talk) 23:10, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
