Date issue[edit]

The current 1714 date given for his death appears to be Old Style, based on 25 March being New Year. ODND lists his death as January 1715, and this "No. 5274". The London Gazette. 2 November 1714. listing the Lords Commissioner of the Admiralty with him as Comptroller would only make sense with this dating. We ought to either make clear that dates are Old Style, or take the approach used by the ODNB and cahgne the date to 1715 (this may also impact other dates discussed in the article). The easiest way (as the rest of the dates used in the article are probably old style) is to indicate that 1714 is the old style, and add 1715 as the new style alternative. Benea (talk) 14:43, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
