I started editing under this account shortly after the New Year, 2008, after editing under an IP for a while. My username is derived from that of User:Destroyerofthewiki, a sockpuppet of User:DavidYork71. Instead of destroying the wiki, I want to edit it, and I would have chosen a better username, but all the good ones are taken. I think that I did quite well with what's left, don't you think?

I have been active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Earthquakes. I don't really have much of a liking of these destructive ruptures, in case you're wondering. They are pretty fun to write about however. My time there has not been wasted: I basically wrote FA 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake (with some copyediting help and some small additions, mostly from User:Ceranthor) and GA 1992 Nicaragua earthquake (also written from scratch--this was speedied while a stub!).

I have also been active writing basketball articles, among other subjects.

I will tell you nothing about my personal life, since I don't know who you are, except I am a male human from the Planet Earth who was born sometime in the 20th century.

Redirects

A redirect is a page that has the sole purpose to automatically redirect readers to a differently named page; to take the reader where they really wanted to go. Redirects allow a topic to have more than one title. Redirects are used for synonyms, abbreviations (initialisms), acronyms, accented terms (diacritics), misspellings, typos, nicknames (pseudonyms), scientific names, etc.

To create a redirect for the term "Oof":

  1. Type Oof in the search box, press ↵ Enter
  2. Click on the redlink for Oof that it presents
  3. In the edit window that appears, type #REDIRECT [[Foo]] on the first line to make it lead to the article Foo
  4. Redirects should be organized in to categories too. Each redirect can have up to seven redirect categories. Categories go on the third line of the redirect. (Note: Plant has a subcategory within the category of scientific name; enter plant after a pipe).

Here are two examples of a redirect category using a category template:

  • {{R from birth name}}
  • {{R from scientific name|plant}}

Preview your new redirect before saving it. Make sure:

  1. There is a big right-facing arrow to the left of the bolded name of your target page name.
  2. That your target page is bolded in blue (if it is red, go back and double check your target name in the edit window).
  3. That your redirect category has rendered properly and that the boilerplate it presents makes sense.

Operation Title was an unsuccessful 1942 Allied attack on the German battleship Tirpitz during World War II. The Allies considered Tirpitz to be a major threat to their shipping and after several Royal Air Force heavy bomber raids failed to inflict any damage it was decided to use Royal Navy midget submarines instead. Operation Title involved a pair of two-man British Chariot manned torpedoes which were transported to Norway on board a small boat named Arthur. Both Chariots were lost when bad weather caused them to detach from Arthur on 31 October. It was not possible for the Allied boat to reach the sea due to German security measures, and Arthur was scuttled. The Allied personnel attempted to escape overland and all but one reached neutral Sweden on 5 November. The other – a British serviceman – was taken prisoner by German forces and murdered on 19 January 1943. Tirpitz was eventually sunk by another bomber raid on 12 November 1944. (Full article...)
