Batman film Villains

Hi this is MegaVergan. As you know I created the article Batman Film Villains. but here is my question. What did I do wrong on this article to make you try to remove it? MegaVergan(Talk). — Preceding unsigned comment added by MegaVergan (talkcontribs) 17:19, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

The L&S of it?
  • It is redundant - List of Batman enemies in other media covers the topic already. This alone can get it removed.
  • It is pure plot - "Plan" and "Fate" are strictly plot elements.
  • It is only for fan service or "fan site appropriate".
And in all honesty, it smacks of ownership since this, as a section, was removed from List of Batman Family enemies for exactly the same issues.
Is that clear enough?
- J Greb (talk) 17:29, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

Another Question

But why cant there be a new article of Batman villains that decribes the villains in the films that could'nt be in List of Batman Family enimies. I mean Yes it was reverted but there is'nt a place that says this exact information.

- MegaVergan —Preceding undated comment added 18:04, 5 September 2011 (UTC).
Bluntly: The list/table already exists. The plot is gratuitous.
- J Greb (talk) 18:19, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
Agree with J Greb 100%. Avoid redundancy - and don't be repetitious. ;) Doczilla STOMP! 04:20, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Theresa Cassidy

If that's true, then the article would have to be moved, since it was called Siryn up until just now. Since you were not 100% certain, would you mind double-checking it, and then moving it appropriately? Thanks for pointing this out to me. Nightscream (talk) 02:16, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

It would be WP:NCC#Character articles.
With "Siryn" - IIUC that is still what the character is more commonly known as. If not, "character name" - the secret ID - comes in. Note we do not have Wasp (Henry Pym), Robin (Tim Drake), Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and so on. (And 3 of those are redirects...) Is it to that point right now?
- J Greb (talk) 02:30, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
But we do have Tim Drake, Dick Grayson, Guy Gardner (comics), and Kyle Rayner. By the same token, the article in question should be Theresa Cassidy or Banshee (Theresa Cassidy), because she is no longer known as Siryn. Just because she was known that way before doesn't mean that this should be the article title. I also think that the rapid turnover rate in comics readership makes what she is more "commonly" known as a bit subjective. Continuing to refer to her as "Siryn", not only in the title but in the Lead section, as it currently does, makes no sense. The last five sections of the Fictional character biography, after all, refer to her as "Theresa" or "Terry", and have for some time. Nightscream (talk) 02:59, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
I think you missed the point: Tim Drake is used as the article title to avoid arguing over Robin (Tim Drake) and Red Robin (Tim Drake), all three of which can be argued as the common name for the character. The non-code-name is the one that is less problematic since we aren't arguing "old" name versus "new" name. Marvel's second generation Cassidy falls into the same situation. And frankly, if the commonly used first name is "Terry", that's what gets used - note Tim and Dick not Timothy and Richard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:07, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

So, how does one do that anyway?

How does one undo a page move, as was done with Captain Marvel? I was at something of a loss to figure out how to fix the problem. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 02:44, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

The easiest way would be "revert" under logs for the page that was moved from. It normally shows up right after the most recent entry. If there have been edits since the move it may require an admin since the destination may need to be deleted first. - J Greb (talk) 04:37, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. Not for nothing (mainly, as per WP:BEANS), that action os potentially pretty annoying in the hands of a vandal or kid, tearing up the town on the weekend. - Jack Sebastian (talk) 12:11, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Dark Knight Alias

I'm not sure about the guidelines for these names, but surely "The Dark Knight" is a notable alias. He has been referred to with this name many times... --ProfessorKilroy (talk) 02:54, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Where and how are you trying to add it? - J Greb (talk) 04:39, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Oh, I put it under notable aliases on the Batman page, and then you removed it. Isn't he referred to as "The Dark Knight" by other characters within Batman stories, making it a notable alias? --ProfessorKilroy (talk) 14:42, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Right.
If you look at the docs for the infobox template you'll see it spelled out that the field is NOT for nicknames. This includes things like, but not limited to: Dark Knight, Caperd Crusader, Webhead, Shell Head, Goldilocks, Amazing Amazon, Big Red Chees, Fin Head, Cap, Bats, Supes, etc.
- J Greb (talk) 16:15, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
I don't know where you're reading this from, but that's fine. I was just curious... --ProfessorKilroy (talk) 23:01, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Darknight Detective

Just noticed your revision of my last post. Here's the problem: the footnoted sobriquet had been in the first paragraph of the Batman page for about half a year. I just noticed today it had been removed and I decided to add it again (citing the discussion over it on the article's talk page). It was then revised immediately and I was asked to move it within the article.

Now, I agree with you that it's not the best place for it, but I know if I add it back with the other sobriquets/nicknames at the top of the page, I'm going to have a debate about that again. Can you help?

Part of the problem is that younger fans don't realize it was used prominently during the Bronze Age in the comic books. In fact, it was more commonly known than "Dark Knight" is today.

Thanks!

"Now, I agree with you that it's not the best place for it, but I know if I add it back..."
Stop right there. That is a very good way to either start edit warring or to be accused of it.
There is a discussion that SudoGhost started on the article's talk page at Talk:Batman#Darknight Detective. That is the place to explain why the information should be included and work out how/where.

Procedural help

Hi, J. After discussion with another editor at Talk:American comic book industry timeline, I added an AfD tag at American comic book industry timeline. I thought it would automatically appear in the AfD log for September 6, but it did not. Noticing this today, I then put an explanatory note in the tag, saying I would manually add it to today's AfD log, to start the seven-day clock again. However, it still isn't showing up as a listed discussion. I find the AfD procedure very complicated and I clearly seem to be doing something wrong. Can you help me better understand the procedure, so I can correct my attempts? Thanks as always. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:27, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

FWIW, when Aqualad (Jackson Hyde) was de-PRODed and AfDed, there seems there was an issue with the AfD template - it redlinked the AfD page even thoug it existed.
It may be and issue with a 'bot or a glich with the AfD coding in general. Neither I things I've got a good grasp on. Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy or Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) would be the best places to raise this... and I'd go to VP tech first.
Hope that helps,

Captain Atom

I would like to know why you deleted the chart detailing information about Captain Atom self-titles publication story. "This is not an index site" you describe the change.... Which would be the way to include this information? Maybe adding a Template:Infobox comic book title? Fma12 (talk) 14:57, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

  1. Try {{Infobox comics character and title}}
  2. As I believe you've been told before - limit the writers, artists, etc to those that were notable for their run on the book, not everyone that touched it.
And yes, this means there is an issue with you edits to Batwoman as well.
- J Greb (talk) 15:21, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
Well, I'll try Template:Infobox comics character and title. In regard to your warning: I did limit creative teams lists. In fact, there were more artists involved in Captain Atom but I chose just the most relevants leaving others out of the list.
In Batwoman page I only added the cover for #1; the infobox had previously been added by another editor, so I took the idea from there. Fma12 (talk) 16:06, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for File:Teen_Age_Sex_Club.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Teen_Age_Sex_Club.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 15:43, 27 September 2011 (UTC)

File:Alex_Kotzky_art.jpg

I have tagged File:Alex_Kotzky_art.jpg as a disputed use of non-free media, because there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please clarify your fair use rationale on the image description page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 16:09, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
