Club Updates[edit]

  • A big thank you to everyone that came out to our United Nations Day Edit-a-thon 2016 on Saturday! In total, 10 participants created 3 articles and improved 15 more. We saw a great use of resources, including some from OSU Libraries' own collection.
  • Brian Leaf, our previous adviser, has left the university. Leaf joined Wikipedia Connection at the end of 2015, and was instrumental in providing Wikipedia Connection support, advice, and ideas for our events and initiatives. We'd like to thank him for the time he put into the club, and wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors. With that, we'd like to formally welcome our new adviser to Wikipedia Connection! Leigh Bonds joined OSU's Libraries this summer as the Libraries' first Digital Humanities Librarian. Previously, she worked at Case Western University, and has hosted Art+Feminism edit-a-thons there. We're excited to have the support of Leigh this semester as we plan new events and initiatives!
  • We're excited to see our first edit-a-thon here on Ohio State's campus that isn't hosted by Wikipedia Connection! The Spanish & Portuguese Edit-a-thon happens November 2nd, with the goal of translating Wikipedia articles from Spanish and Portuguese into English. Wikipedia Connection is pleased to be a supporter of the event, and we welcome our members to both participate and help facilitate the event.
