Did the Persians lose their hunting penalty here or in a patch? Stilgar135 01:49, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Persians never had a hunting penalty, thay had a farming penalty and a hunting bonus. --TomasBat (@)(Sign) 18:45, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

And yes, they lost the penalty.

Reception[edit]

I have played this game for years but the following stumps me: "The expansion did feature an option to play the original Age of Empires with or without the additional content. " I never came across any such option. I'm also surprised by the rest of the Reception section - some reviews actually state that the expansion was so studded with new stuff that it was almost a new game. That's only if you use the original CD. Use the expansion cd for the updated one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.16.23.49 (talk) 15:41, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It has been done. ~ G1ggy! Reply | Powderfinger! 04:58, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed. Where would we be without AoEH? Floris V 12:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I am considering trying to get heavengames recgognised as a valid reference and citable source on this encyclopedia (generally fansites aren't recognised but there are official ways of getting them recognised as being reliable). A certain admin thought it wan't good enough listing it as a reference for Newtoy's (a spin off from ensemble studios- the makers of AoE series- after it was nuked by microsoft) new games.

Macedonians or Hellene civilization?[edit]

In game are present Hellens, not Macedonians as it is mentioned in the article —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stefke (talkcontribs) 21:58, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In my version it's Macedonians...although I heard about Hellens in a trial version? Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 01:01, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is Macedonians, I own a copy of the game and can give pictures as evidence if necessary.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure it was Hellens in the beta or trial version of either the original or expansion pack. Hellens also are part of a mod for AoE3.

I also had the time-trial. It had Helenistic League. Perhaps they renamed that to Macedonians in the release version. Rlinfinity (talk) 20:26, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome Credits[edit]

I just want to add a link in order to complete your article with the game credits of Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome . I think people that used to work on this game have to be highlight for the job they done.SophieLyon (talk) 12:55, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a promotional service or an advertising service. There is a link to the official website of the game, and, where notable, specific programmers can be named in the text. We are writing an encyclopedia here. Thanks. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gameplay

  1. Tweaked a bit to clarify what it adds content to.
  2. I think a section + see also to AoEVG dedicated to explaining how AoE works would be valuable, as I think that without an explanation, these details may be more difficult to understand for those who don't know what kind of game AoE is. This should also clarify that it's a real-time strategy game. As an example of the issue, I feel that the population limit is not well explained, and would be hard to explain without describing the functions of units and supply.
  3. The sentence on the historical reenactments could be tweaked to flow a little better, maybe split into multiple sentences?

  1. Screenshot should specify exactly what it's doing in the article, ie why specifically it is used. For example, to visualize its depiction of Ancient Rome, to show the gameplay, to show the perspective, anything about the gameplay that might be discussed by critics that could be used to justify it.
