Carolyn Pethick[edit]

Carolyn Pethick is a retired police officer from Victoria, Australia. Her career spanned over 30 years. Since her retirement, she has become a published author and a keynote speaker.  

Carolyn's presentations focus on a variety of topics, including her experiences in law enforcement, community engagement, and social issues.

Here are some of her speaking engagements:

  • 2021: Presentations at the Boroondara City Council and the Sunshine and Western Region sports club.  
  • 2020: Appearances on the Australian True Crime Podcast[1] with Meshel Laurie (discussing prejudice and sexism within the police force) and a presentation at the Doncaster Probus where she offered insights into key events from her book.  
  • 2019: A talk at the Ted Ajani Centre focusing on bullying and discrimination in the workplace, and an inspiring presentation for Seaford Secondary College students at the Seaford Library (South Australia).  
  • 2018: A memorable discussion on Studio 10 about the events explored in her book[2], “To Hell and Back – A Policewoman’s Story[3].  

Her book explores themes encountered during her police career. Carolyn received the 2018 Erin Condon Award in recognition of her dedication to the force. She has also participated in community outreach initiatives such as the Glenferrie Festival in 2015.
