Nolan Russell Wallach is a mathematician known for the works in the representation theory of reductive algebraic groups. He is the author of the 2-volume treatise Real Reductive Groups.[1]

Wallach did his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, graduating in 1962.[2] He earned his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1966, under the supervision of Jun-Ichi Hano.[2][3] He is a professor emeritus of mathematics at the University of California, San Diego, a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a fellow of the American Mathematical Society.[2][4] His doctoral students include AMS Fellow Alvany Rocha.[3]
