The 1989 South Carolina Gamecocks football team represented the University of South Carolina as an independent team in the 1989 NCAA Division I-A football season finishing with a 6-4-1 record. The Gamecocks were led by Sparky Woods in his first year as USC head coach following the death of former head coach Joe Morrison. Morrison died of a fatal heart attack in February 1989 following the Gamecocks 1988 season.
