8344 Babette (provisional designation: 1987 BB) is a main-belt minor planet. It was discovered by Tsuneo Niijima and Takeshi Urata in Ojima, Gunma, on January 25, 1987. It is named after Babette Whipple, a teacher, researcher, psychotherapist, and the wife of astronomer Fred Lawrence Whipple.
