The name Abaton (from Greek: α - not + βαίνω - to tread) was used in antiquity for inaccessible places, including:
- The building at the Asclepion in Epidaurus where dream cures by enkoimesis are reported
- A statue erected by Artemisia II of Caria after the conquest of Rhodes
- Abatos, aka Abaton, rocky island in the Nile, Egypt
