Allelujah is a 2022 film adaptation of Alan Bennett's play of the same name set to star Jennifer Saunders, Bally Gill, Russell Tovey, David Bradley, Derek Jacobi, and Judi Dench. It is directed by Richard Eyre, with Heidi Thomas adapting the screenplay. Produced by Pathé, BBC Film, and Ingenious Media, the film is set to be distributed by Pathé in France and Switzerland as a standalone distributor and in the UK via Warner Bros. Pictures.[2]

It had its world premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022.

Plot

Allelujah is a warm and deeply moving story about old age. The threatened closure of a geriatric ward in a small Yorkshire hospital stirs an uprising from the local community, who invite a news crew to film preparations for a concert in honour of the hospital’s most distinguished nurse. Allelujah celebrates the spirit of humanity among medical staff struggling with limited resources and ever-growing demand, and to the elderly patients involved.[3]
