Luther Vandross concert chronology

The Any Love World Tour is a concert tour by American recording R&B artist Luther Vandross, the tour supports his Platinum selling album, Any Love. Following its release, debuting in the top ten pop charts, Vandross kicked-off a 65 city three-month tour in the U.S. The trek started on September 28, in Washington, D.C., with singer Anita Baker joining as a opening co-headliner; billed as The Heat: Luther & Anita Live!.[1] In 1989, Vandross continued his tour with out Baker that included a European outing, in which Vandross performed a record-breaking sell-out of ten shows at London's Wembley Arena. A U.S. second leg followed, as the tour would gross over $12.8 million and becoming one of music's top live attractions that year.[2]

Notes

  • During the show at the Sports Arena on December 1, Vandross invited dancer/singer Gregory Hines who attended the concert to join him on stage. Together, they performed their hit duet "There's Nothing Better than Love" from Vandross's 1986 album, Give Me the Reason.[3]

Broadcast & Recordings

  • Luther Vandross show from his record-breaking ten dates at the Wembley Arena in London was televised on BBC One Europe TV. Following its airing, a commercially issued home VHS/DVD titled, ‘’Luther Vandross: Live at Wembley’’ was released.
