Association of Churches

An Association of Churches is a group of churches that have organized themselves together for the advancement of their beliefs.
Sometimes (erroneously) called Conventions, these Associations are largely ceremonial, and have no real authority over member churches.

The term should not be confused with a Synod, the council of an associated church collective or a Presbyterian Church General Assembly which is distinctly different.
