Bloomer is a city in Chippewa County located within the Town of Woodmohr in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population of the city of Bloomer is 3,539, after the 2010 census. The city of Bloomer is located south of the Town of Bloomer, which is also in Chippewa County. Portions of the city of Bloomer's urban area have been recently extended into the Town of Bloomer.

Bloomer is located at 45°6′7″N 91°29′30″W / 45.10194°N 91.49167°W / 45.10194; -91.49167 (45.102171, -91.491767).[3]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.1 km²), of which, 2.7 square miles (7.0 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (2.18%) is water.

As of the census[2] of 2010, there are 3,539 people, 1,332 households, and 869 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,310.7 people per square mile. There were 1,405 housing units at an average density of 520.4 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 97.6% White, 0.2% Black or African American, 0.2% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 1.9% from other races.

There were 1,332 households out of which 27.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% were married couples living together, 7.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.7% were non-families. 32.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the city, the population was spread out with 21.9% under the age of 20, 3.2% from 20 to 24, 27.6% from 24 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 43.8 years.

The median income for a household in the city was $42,635, and the median income for a family was $57,974.

Mr. Bloomer and a group of men from Galena, Illinois decided to build a mill on the site in 1848 as winter approached he sold the dam to H. S. Allen and headed back to Galena. The village was settled in 1855 and was first known as Vanville until 1867 after it was surveyed and platted.[4]
