Shego

Shego is a fictional character from Disney's animated television series Kim Possible. She is Dr. Drakken's right-hand henchwoman and Kim Possible's deadliest foe (although "rival" could be a better term). She's easily the smartest and most competent of Kim's enemies, and (other than a strong sadistic streak) one of the sanest as well. Unlike most Disney villain sidekicks, she's also a sarcastic, violent smart-mouth who enjoys being snide to Drakken and fighting Kim Possible.

Personality

Similar to Kim, Shego has a rather dry sense of humor, and often makes sarcastic comments about Dr. Drakken's frequently absurd plans. Shego has often been described as an evil version of Kim, although the two of them are not actually related.

Shego is actually seemingly unmotivated (which may account for why she's still affiliated with Drakken even after his repeated failures), and spends most of her free time lazing around reading villain magazines and filing her gloves. She's also quite impatient, and quickly gets angry at people when they're being obnoxious or weird (she's also particularly quick to blast men who try to flirt with her).

Although she's generally the villain with the least reluctance about hurting and endangering those who get in her way, she's shown some indications of being uninterested in cruelty for cruelty's sake. She has also demonstrated a soft spot for fish (such as wondering where the fish went when she and Drakken used a weather machine to suck the water out of a lake to use in an attack on Canada), kids in wheelchairs (when Drakken and Motor Ed plan to steal a wheelchair with cybertronic enhancements) and possibly her family (although she'd never admit it, save for perhaps when the series starts up again). Steve Loter admitted that there is a slight possibility that the series will reveal more about Shego's background.

Similarities with Kim

Kim and Shego have more in common than either would care to admit. They are both quite intelligent, strive for success, yet also prefer to indulge in ditzy behaviour. They are both accomplished martial artists, with identical physiques -- not to mention looks, ignoring color (except for their eyes, which are both green), and have a similar rivalrous temperament. Shego also actually used to be a super-hero, and like Kim, grew up using her powers to fight evil, with the other members of Team Go.

Villainous Beginnings

Shego turned evil herself after (presumably) finally being fed up with the constant obnoxious stupidity of her family/team mates. After deciding to become evil, Shego left her family and immediately joined up with Dr. Drakken. At first, she showed some degree of fear and respect towards Drakken, but through their dealings with Kim Possible, she quickly learned that he was all bark and no bite. Shego has since taken a more dominant role in their relationship, and sometimes hurts Drakken when he's being particularly annoying.

Alternate Versions

In an alternate future, (A Sitch in Time) Shego was the only villain to successfully take over the world (and enslaved other villains, including Drakken, while she was at it). She establishes Middleton as her her capital, renaming it "Shegoton", and transforms Club Banana into "Club Shego". Everyone, aside from a small band of resistance fighters, wears clothing based on Shego's green and black costume.

Also, in Rewriting History, Shego was known as Miss Go and stole the "Electro-Static Illuminator" invented by Professor Demence during the Middleton Tri-City Expo. The whole incident turned out to be a dream by Kim and Ron, after they fell asleep at the Tri-City History Museum.

Powers and abilities

The green glow has a number of abilities -

  • It can cut/smash through metals, locks etc.
  • It can throw people with great force. (as seen in Steel Wheels.)
  • It can knock people unconscious with a focused light (as seen in The Twin Factor.)
  • It can be charged to release ball lightning (as seen in Bad Boy and Emotion Sickness.)

Trivia

  • Shego is voiced by Nicole Sullivan.
  • Shego's skin appears light green. This may be her natural skin colour, or a result of her energy powers - Her brothers also have skin color that corresponds with their energy aura
  • Shego's hair, which appears black, may actually be a very dark green due to it's green outline. This may also just be a subtle glowing of her energy aura.
  • Shego's feelings for Drakken are unknown, as she enjoys taunting him about his failures in certain episodes, but in 'Emotion Sickness', she (although under the influence of an emotion controlling chip) flirted with, dated, and kissed Drakken, though it's possible the chip might have just been extending some real love she may have for him. She also gave up her vacation to save Drakken while he was stranded in the Arctic with Ron in 'A Very Possible Christmas'.
  • Shego's gloves have clawed fingertips.
