The main article for this category is Apostasy in Judaism.

This category is for former Jews whose former faith is a defining characteristic or related to their notability. This category includes Jews who have claimed to be the Messiah, providing they successfully started a religion separate from Judaism. It does not include Karaite Jews, as Karaism is a Jewish denomination. Some Christians, particularly the Early Christians should not be included in this category, as they did not intentionally convert from Judaism.
