I wonder if it needs to be made clear whether this should include all by-elections in what would become the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester, or only contests which took place after it was created in 1974. I don't have strong views either way, but a bit of text might help otherwise, for an article like the 1916 Bolton by-election, an editor might query its inclusion, as Greater Manchester did not exist as a concept, let alone a defined area at that time. I also note some pre-1974 by-elections are not currently in the category eg 1871 Stalybridge by-election. Dunarc (talk) 23:47, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
