Naming[edit]

How many of these clergy are "from" London? Were most not born & raised outside London? Should this be renamed to "Clergy who served in the London area"? Laurel Lodged (talk) 16:33, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Laurel Lodged: Good point, thanks. I have moved it for now to "in London", following the pattern within Category:Christian clergy by continent e.g. Category:Bishops in the United Kingdom. I initially used "from" to be consistent with siblings in Category:People from London by occupation, which formerly included Category:Bishops of London directly.
Ah, we have a problem. I was also being consistent with siblings in Category:Clergy by city, which use "from", except for the categories of rabbis. Some have sub-categories for "Bishops of ...", but most of the contents are biographies categorized by place of birth.
The "People from" categories do categorise by defining places of work as well as by place of birth, and being a bishop of a city-based diocese is a pretty defining connection. So, I think I should revert to "Clergy from London", which will be consistent with two parents out of three (Category:Clergy by city and Category:People from London by occupation, but not Category:Clergy in the United Kingdom). – Fayenatic London 18:44, 18 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I think that Category:Christian clergy by continent should have primacy. Its scope is quite specific and covers the present situation precisely: "Christian clergy who currently serve and have previously served in the continent of Europe regardless of nationality or Ecclesiastical province.". @Fayenatic london: Laurel Lodged (talk) 11:33, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, wouldn't it be better as Category:Christian clergy in London ? If/when Muslim/Jewish categories by London are created, then this category could be re-created as a parent. Laurel Lodged (talk) 13:06, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
