"Nunneries" seems more appropriate than "monasteries", as the Gilbertine foundations, although well-known for accommodating both men and women, were communities of women with a few canons attached rather than evenly balanced double monasteries.Staffelde 22:38, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
