Cherla (Telugu: చర్ల) is a tehsil in Khammam district in Andhra Pradesh, India. It is located on the banks of River Godavari.

Cherla is located on the banks of River Godavari at 18°05′00″N 80°49′00″E / 18.0833°N 80.8167°E.[1] It has an average elevation of 78 metres (259 ft).

Cherla has a population of 38,540 of which 42.9 % are literates(2001 census) .[2]
