Dance Dance Revolution Konamix (so named because all the songs are Konami Originals) is the third home version of Dance Dance Revolution to be released in the United States. It was released by Konami on April 24, 2002 for the Sony PlayStation video game console. DDR Konamix contains a total of 52 songs, 20 of which are hidden and unlockable. Most of the songs contained within the game are from the Japanese 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Club Mixes of DDR, all of them being Konami original songs. A few songs are also exclusive to the U.S.

[edit] Gameplay

The core gameplay of Konamix is similar to 4th Mix (as they share the same engine and interface). For scoring, each step is given a score based on the accuracy of the step and the running combo. A judgment of Great or Perfect will award points and increase the combo, whereas any lower judgment will break the combo, reducing it to zero. Jumps are only worth one judgment, and only adds one to the combo. Each Great is worth 555 points and each Perfect is worth 777 points. The player also receives 333 points multiplied by the current combo after every step.

Konamix is also the only North American version to feature Solo Mode, a mode featuring the six-panel functionality of Dance Dance Revolution Solo. While a great portion of songs on DDR Konamix have six-panel step patterns, using the up-left and up-right panels of the dance pad, not every one does. Two-player gameplay is unavailable in Solo Mode.

[edit] Nonstop Mode

Nonstop Mode allows the player to play a course of several pre-determined songs without stopping.

[edit] Battle Mode

Battle Mode is equivalent to the Unison and Couple modes from previous mixes, and is chosen at the difficulty selection screen while on Versus mode. Battle steps must be played by both players, and are generally designed to make each player "take turns" between playing simple and complex patterns. As an added challenge, the steps rise from the middle of the screen, and drift to either player's side while continuing upwards.

[edit] Workout Mode

Workout Mode is a special mode where you can play songs and have the game keep track of your exercise performance, such as calories burned. The Japanese equivalent is Diet Mode.

[edit] Songs

The game features the following 52 songs. The songs highlighted in pink must be unlocked in order to play them:
