Stay Silent PVD (also known as stay silent) is a creative agency and event production company based in Providence, Rhode Island. Founded in December 2012, the organization has played an active role in the regional cultural and creative scene of New England. It is recognized for its diverse portfolio of events, community engagement initiatives, and support for local artists and creatives. The agency was co-founded by Sabrina Chaudhary and Jason "Where's Nasty" Almeida.

Background and History[edit]

Founded in December 2012, Stay Silent began its journey by hosting events that brought together artists, musicians, and creatives from the local community. Its co-founders, Sabrina Chaudhary and Jason Almeida, following their collaborative efforts at the University of Rhode Island to produce programming for students of color, the founders perceived a lack of events that catered to their interests in post-graduate life, which led to the inception of Stay Silent. The company's name reflects its mission to create loud, impactful experiences in contrast to remaining 'silent'.:[1]

Day Trill was conceived during the early days of Stay Silent by Almeida and Chaudhary, aiming to create a daytime event as an alternative to traditional nightlife. Guided by Donald King, founder of Providence's Sound Session festival, they launched Day Trill in 2013, which was initially held in Fete Music Hall's parking lot.[2]

In 2014, on Stay Silent's second anniversary, the founders opened "Trade Pop-Up," a non-profit arts organization and gallery/retail space located on 34 Governor Street in Providence's East Side. Trade Pop-Up's mission is to educate artists, small businesses, and creatives on event planning, marketing, and hosting pop-up shops and gallery showings.[3]

In 2020, Stay Silent opened "Crib," its first dedicated event space and nightlife venue, located at 1070 North Main St. in Providence, RI.[4]
